KC Watersports is looking for a Management & Marrketing intern for the 2025 summer season. Come get your hands dirty with some real work! This is a full time 12 week academic internship during the summer semester. The program will commence on May 22rd and will conclude on August 14th. A typical work week will consist of approximately 40 hours per week. The intern will gain knowledge through hands on experience, working on a variety of marketing, sales & management practices. The student is encouraged to earn credit for their internship through their academic unit. The student must consult their academic adviser or the intern coordinator at their academic unit to obtain credit for the internship. KC Watersports will provide any supporting material necessary to help facilitate this process. |

Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Support:
- Assist in developing and implementing sales strategies to attract new customers to the wakeboarding facility and event space.
- Help manage and track customer inquiries, bookings, and registrations for wakeboarding sessions, camps, and events.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify and pursue new leads, including individuals, schools, groups, and corporate clients.
- Support the creation of promotional offers, discounts, and packages to drive sales and bookings.
- Marketing & Social Media:
- Assist in creating engaging content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.), including photos, videos, and posts that showcase the facility and services.
- Monitor and track social media engagement, and assist with content scheduling and audience interaction.
- Help design and distribute marketing materials, such as flyers, posters, and email newsletters, to promote upcoming events and seasonal programs.
- Support the creation and execution of digital advertising campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, social media ads) to increase visibility and drive traffic to the facility.
- Event Planning & Promotion:
- Assist in organizing and promoting events such as competitions, group lessons, and unique events like our Movie on the Water.
- Help with event logistics, including outreach to participants, coordinating event schedules, and assisting with on-site event management.
- Collaborate with the team to create buzz around events through targeted email campaigns, social media, and local partnerships.
- Branding & Community Engagement:
- Assist with branding efforts to ensure the facility’s identity and messaging are consistent across all channels and materials.
- Research local businesses, schools, and community organizations to identify potential partnership opportunities to cross-promote and expand brand presence.
- Engage with customers and the community to gather feedback and testimonials, which can be used for marketing purposes.
- Help build and maintain relationships with influencers and local media to increase the facility’s visibility.
- Market Research:
- Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and potential customer segments to inform sales and marketing strategies.
- Help analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Gather data on customer preferences, demographics, and behavior to support targeted marketing efforts.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Previous internship or work experience in sales, marketing, or customer service is a plus, but not required.
- A passion for watersports or experience with wakeboarding is a bonus, but not mandatory.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinking and ability to generate fresh ideas for marketing campaigns and promotions.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.) and basic understanding of social media best practices.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Outgoing and comfortable engaging with customers and community members.
- Technical Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
- Familiarity with website content management systems is a plus.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp) or digital advertising tools (Google Ads, Facebook Ads) is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or background in sports marketing, event planning, or digital media.
- Experience with photography, video editing, or content creation.
- Knowledge of basic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) principles.
Compensation:
- This is a paid internship hourly at $15/hr ; in addition, college credit may also be available based on the institution’s requirements.
